Artists - Virginia Houston
Virginia holds a Masters Degree in Art Education (1986) from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has also received a B.A. (1980) and a B.A. Education (1973) from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has taught Elementary Education for twenty-two years, and High School Art Education for eight years. In addition, Virginia has taught Art classes through Continuing Education (M.U.N.) and at Salmonier Correctional Institute. Now retired from teaching, she has opened her own Art School teaching children and adults. Virginia has studied Art with local artists such as Alistair Drysdale, Les Noseworthy, Ed Roche, and Lloyd Pretty and national artists such as Edwin Matthews (Niagara-on-the-Lake), Mary Nunn (Ottawa), Margaret Ryan, Jim Morris (Hattiesburg, Mississippi) and Gordon Mackenzie (Ontario). Virginia has sold numerous paintings to private collections as well as some to the provincial government. She does accept commissioned pieces.
