Artists - Don Rideout
Don Rideout has been producing and selling original watercolor paintings since 1994. He has just recently released his first limited reproduction called "At Anchor". "At Anchor" is a giclee on watercolor paper. (A giclee is the closest type of reproduction that you can get that resembles the original.) Don studied at the Ed Roche School of Fine Art for several years and has produced many original paintings for art shows. He has also produced several commissioned pieces for various clients. Don received an award of excellence in 2002 from the "Realist Artist of Newfoundland and Labrador". Don grew up in the community of Campbellton in Notre Dame Bay and eventually moved to St. John's where he has worked as a designer with local and international engineering companies. Most of Don's artwork depict's scenes from the rural harbours, coves around Newfoundland, and street scenes inspired by the bright colors and detailed architecture of old St. John's. Don's enjoyment comes from the attention to fine detail, scale, light and shadows.
